Kun joulukuun alussa kaivelin kaapista jouluisia tyynynpäällisiä huomasin, että siellähän on edelleen tuollainen ihan yksinkertainen punainen puuvillatyynynpäällinen. Ikeasta varmaankin jonakin jouluna ostettu. Sellaset halvat puuvillapäälliset eivät yleensä liiemmin parane pestessä ja silittäessä, joten ajattelin, että siihen voisi nyt keksiä jotakin raikastusta. Kangasmaaleja kun oli viime vuotisista askarteluista edelleen jäljellä, niin ratkaisu löytyi nopeasti. Maalit eivät tosiaan kestä vuosikaupalla tuoreena, joten parasta keksiä useampi käyttötarkoitus, jos meinaa hyötyä koko purkista! Käytin muuten Marabu Textil Plus-maalia. Siinä on valkoisenakin tarpeeksi peittävä koostumus.
Valitsin tietokoneelta sopivan fontin, käänsin sivun vaakatasoon, kirjoitin sanan love ja tulostin sen niin suurin kirjaimin kuin vain paperille mahtui. Leikkasin kirjaimet irti, laitoin tyynyliinan sisään pahvinpalan suojaksi ja tupsuttelin taas kangasmaalia... Vakkarit: kuivatus ja silitys ohjeen mukaan. Ai niin, tuo o-kirjain oli sellainen, että pidin yhdellä sormella o-kirjaimen sisustan päällä irti leikattua pyörylää. Sormet siinä menee sotkuun ja saa olla tarkkana, ettei sabloona tai se pyörylä liikahda tupsutellessa, mutta muuten ihan helppo homma. Ehkä ei olisi huono idea pyytää toista käsiparia avuksi. Miksi tuohon nyt sitten valikoitui juuri tuo sana? Mietin myös sanoja hope, joy ja mitä lie muutakin, mutta se meni nyt sitten näin. Ensi kerralla varmaan sitten jotakin muuta vaihteeksi. Mutta kyllä se rakkaus lopulta on ehdottoman tärkeä asia joulutunnelmassa monella tasolla. Pentatonix laulaa ihan ihanasti perheestä tässä joululaulussa:

When I checked my Christmas cushion covers in the beginning of December I found this simple red one, too. I must have bought it in Ikea once. Such cheap cotton covers don't normally get better by washing and ironing them, so I thought it called for a refreshing touch. Besides, after all the crafts last year, I still had more textil paint at home. Honestly, even if you close the jars well, they won't keep forever! The paint I used was a white one in Marabu Textil Plus brand. Not all white textil paints cover properly with one layer on a dark background, but this one seems to me one of the best white ones that are currently available.
At first I chose a font and turned the Word-page horizontal. I wrote the word love on it and printed it out as large as would fit on one page. Then I cut the letters out, placed a piece of cardboard inside the cushion cover to prevent any stains and simply stenciled the letters on it. Yes, I know, you must be wondering about that hole in O. I cut it out and just kept it in place with a finger while I stencilled the letter. It was bit tricky as I had to hold the page as well. It worked fine, but one just has to be extra careful not to let either of them move. (It might not be a bad idea to ask somebody to hold the word stencil still that you have free hands to keep the hole in place.) Let the paint dry and then iron it according to the instructions on the paint jar. Why did I choose the word love again? Well, I thought of hope and joy, etc. too, but then ended up with love. Love contributes to Christmas on many different levels. One of them is a family. I love the atmosphere in the Pentatonix song above!
