Fusion in the kitchen

Tässä on nyt muutaman päivän vapaahetket kuluneet aikamoisessa mööbelisirkuksessa. Tytön kirjahylly siirtyi vaate/varastohuoneeseen, keittiön hylly siirtyi tytön huoneeseen ja keittiö jäi ilman astiahyllyä. Toivoin löytäväni kirpparilta, jonkin kivan vitriinivirityksen keittiöön, mutta eihän sitä mitään juuri silloin löydä, kun jotakin oikeasti tarvitaan. Sitten aloin hiukan katsella ympärilleni olohuoneesssa ja totesin aika nopeasti, että tuo musta kirjahyllyhän näyttäisi aika pippuriselta keittiössä. Tuli ihan sellainen bistrotunnelma! 

Samalla vaihdoin kaapeissa olleet astiat hyllyyn ja hyllyssä olleet kaappiin, eli nyt on vähän niinkuin uusi setti (vanhoja astioita) käytössä. Uudessa kombinaatiossa ne näyttävät taas hiukan erilaiselta. Nuo Marimekon kaurismukit, mitkä joululomalta alesta ostin ovat kyllä ihan parhaat. Ne yhdistävät tämän epämääräisen kokonaisuuden aika hyväksi fuusioksi. Tässähän on siis sekaisin käytettynä saatua, kirpparia, Iittalaa, Marimekkoa, Ikeaa, Belgian Boch:ia ja Villeroy & Boch:ia ihan sulassa sovussa. Seuraavaksi pitää paklata ja paikkamaalata muutama entinen naulanpaikka ja porata yksi uusi reikä liitutaulua varten. Sekin joutui siirtymään muutamalla sentillä vasemmalle, koska tämä hylly oli reilusti leveämpi kuin edellinen. Ja liitutaulun siirron myötä pitää nyt ottaa koristelautaset pois... Kierre sen kuin jatkuu, mutta nyt alkaa olla kaikki hahmottumassa keittiön suhteen. ;)

My leisure time for the last few days has been effectively spent in a furniture circus... We moved our daughter's book case into the storage room and the kitchen shelf to her room. The end result was that the kitchen looked kind of empty and some solution had to be found for storing the cups, plates & co. I hoped I'd find something nice at the second hand shop, but it's almost a rule that you never do when you seriously need something. Instead of just buying something temporary I began looking around at home to see if anything we already have could be used there and realized that the black bookcase in the living room could be a perfect solution. And yes, indeed it was. Now the kitchen has a bit of a bistro vibe to it. ;)  

Because everything had to be sorted out anyway it was a good chance to rethink what should be placed on the shelves. I put all the blue and white items to the cupboard and took out other sets for a change. It's funny how old things look new again when they are combined in a different way. Those new Marimekko cups with a deer print function as a combining element. The mix is namely rather eclectic fusion of second hand finds, Iittala, Marimekko, Ikea, Belgian Boch and Villeroy & Boch. The next thing I'll have to do is to fix couple of holes in the wall and get my husband to drill one new one... The chalk board namely had to move couple of inches left and then few other things have to go, too. Quite a domino effect with each change, but I am starting to see the end already, at least in the kitchen. ;)
