Vaihteeksi taas hiukan "kotimaanmatkailua..." Joskus rakennuksen rakennekin voi olla jo itsessään aika elämys nähtäväksi. Kuva on sieltä kuninkaallisilta kasvihuoneilta. Kivat koukerokoristeet tukipilarissa, eikö? Arkkitehdin nimi oli Alphonse Balat. Näistä koristeista kuulema tuli Art Nouveau/Jugend -tyylin ensimmäiset askeleet. Balatin kanssa työskennellyt Victor Horta sitten jatkoi tyylisuunnan kehittämistä. Brysselistä tuli siis Art Nouveaun syntypaikka... Neljä Hortan Art Nouveau -rakennusta Brysselissä on Unescon maailmanperintölistalla. Tästä löytyy lista niistä rakennuksista.

This is another post for defending the status of Belgium as a travel destination... ;-) Sometimes the structure of a building might be already itself quite an experience to see. The photo is from the royal greenhouses from where I have shown you loads of other pictures already. This is, however, quite special in itself even without flowers. See the wrought iron decoration on the pillar. The name of the architect was Alphonse Balat. These decorations that he designed to the supporting structures of the greenhouses became the first step of Art Nouveau style. His student named Victor Horta continued developing the style and made thus Brussels to be the birth place of Art Nouveau. Four of Art Nouveau town houses Horta designed in Brussels are even listed on Unesco's World Heritage site.
