Vaihtelu virkistää: siirryin yläkerran toimistosta ruokapöydän ääreen olohuoneeseen... Isommalle pöydälle saa levitettyä enemmän paperia. Sitä nimittäin kertyy. Aamupäivä on mennyt tulostaessa powerpoint-dioja ja mustiinpanoja Lutherin ja Zwinglin jutuista, katsellessa aiheeseen sopivia filminpätkiä. Arg, se on se osuus, minkä voisin skipata ihan kokonaan. Siinä tuntuu vain aika kuluvan hukkaan, mutta pakkohan niiden sisällöt on tarkistaa, että tietää mihin kohtaa luentoja minkäkin pätkän sijoittaa. Historiajutuissa on kuitenkin hauskempaa hahmottaa asioita, jos on tunneilla hiukan muutakin kuin puhetta. Aamun ilo oli, että löysin huippuhyvät lyhyet ja ytimekkäät vertailut uskonpuhdistuksen aikaisista näkemyksistä ehtoollisesta ja lapsikasteesta. Filmien katsomisen aikana ehtii nimittäin juoda teetä kupillisen jos toisenkin ja samalla selata kirjoja.
Sellaista tänne, nyt taidan reiittää nuo tähän saakka kertyneet paperit ja laittaa ne kansioon, jotta pääsen siirtymään seuraavaan ajanjaksoon. Liian monta työtuntia on uponnut muutamaan vuosikymmeneen, kiitos katolilaisen kirkon, Lutherin ja "kavereiden." Olisivat voineet jättää kiukkuiset kirjeensä ja väittelynsä vähän vähemmälle. Kaikella kunnioituksella tietysti, mutta tulee väkisinkin mieleen, että isot egot eivät ole vain nykyajan ja sosiaalisen median mukaanaan tuoma ilmiö.

I brought my stuff today downstairs, because the table is larger than my desk in the office... It's better for spreading out sheets of paper. This morning I have been printing Power point slides and notes for Luther and Zwingli, and watched several film clips. To be honest, that's the task I could happily skip, because it takes so much time. That would, however, not work, because I need to know the contents properly to decide when to show which one... Anyway, they are a great fun for the students in comparison to me talking alone all the time. ;-) The joyful moment was when I found two articles that outlined the different views of the Lord's Supper and infant baptism at the time of Reformation. While watching the film clips, one has plenty of time to drink a cup of tea and glance through few books...
That's the news from here. I'll file the papers, which I have printed so far, in order to proceed to the next time period. It took too many working hours to get through couple of decades, thanks to the church, Luther and his "friends." I wish they had written fewer angry letters and quarreled bit less. With all due respect of course, but one can't help thinking that big egos are not only today's phenomenon promoted by social media.
