Syksy ja omenat kuuluvat yhteen! Meillä on lähistöllä paljon omenatarhoja ja juuri nyt puut oikein pullistelevat runsaasta sadosta. Viime vuoden omenapuukuvia löytyy täältä. Tällä viikolla minulle tuli vuosi mittariin. Selvisin ilman suurempia kriisintunteita tällä kertaa, mutta jos ajankulun voisi pysäyttää, niin enpä usko, että monikaan kieltäytyisi tekemästä niin. ;) Sain muuten toivoa perinteiden mukaan synttäripäiväkseni jonkin kakun. Näin Suomessa ollessani tälläisen reseptin Mummo Ankan omenapiirakkaan, joten olin tehnyt valintani jo etukäteen. :D Piirakasta tuli juuri niin herkkua kuin olin kuvitellutkin. Nyt kun resepti on todettu toimivaksi, täytyy ostaa asiaankuuluva vuoka Mummo Ankan rimpsureunoineen.

Autumn and apples belong together! There are many apple gardens in our area and for the last week or two it seems like the trees are getting really heavily loaded with fruit... Here are some apple pics from the last year. I had my birthday this week, and therefore, it was my turn to wish a cake. I found a recipe of a classic American apple pie and asked my husband and daughter to bake me that one. :D Typical Nordic apple pies look quite different, so that's why the Grandma Duck thing in the headline in case you wondered. I suppose we first became familiar with the American apple pies through reading Donald Duck. :) It was just as delicious as I had expected! Now that we know that the recipe works so well, I'll need to buy a right kind of dish for the next pie in order to get the edges rippled. ;)
