Beachy Head

Muutama valokuva pitkän viikonlopun reissulta. Krooniseen enkkuikävään saatiin hieman helpotusta. Suunnattiin aikaisin torstaiaamuna auton nokka nimittäin Englannin eteläreunaa kohti. Siellä on South Downs -luontoalue ja muutakin tietysti. Rannikon kaupungit eivät itsessään tehneet suurta vaikutusta, mitä niitä nyt pikaisesti hieman katsastettiin, mutta Beachy Head Eastbournen vieressä oli ihan mahtava. Aika jylhät kalkkikalliojyrkänteet. Lievästi korkeanpaikan kammoisellekin kuitenkin ihan jees, koska kielekkeen reuna nousi pääosin hieman ylöspäin, joten suoraan alas ei tarvinnut katsoa juuri ollenkaan. ;-))

Here are couple of photos from our long weekend. Some relief for our chronic missing of England. On Thursday morning we set our course towards the Southern coast, Sussex to be exact. There is South Downs national park and few other interesting things, too. The coastal towns did not really impress us, but Beachy Head at Eastbourne was incredible with quite impressive white cliffs. Though I admit that I am bit afraid of heights, these cliffs were fine since one did not need to look directly down. We even sat for a while on a patch of grass just 1m from the edge. I enjoyed myself, too, but then woke up the following night completely shocked that we had been sitting there just like that... (For a few seconds I considered whether I should wake my husband up so that I could ask him had it been safe enough to sit there or not... Crazy me, I finally figured that the cliffs were already so far away that it did not matter any more and came back to my senses and let him sleep. You can't imagine what kinds of questions he sometimes has to answer. ;-))
