Näin alakerran vanhaa pariskuntaa käytävällä. Jäätiin hetkeksi juttelemaan niitä näitä. Pappa on aika urheilullinen ikäisekseen. Hänellä on seniorisarjan Belgian mestaruuksia yleisurheilussa. Hän treenaa kovasti useamman kerran viikossa. Kesäaikaan kilpailujakin näyttää olevan tämän tästä. Mamma on touhukas, mutta huonojalkainen, joten häneltä ei urheilu suju. Tänään hän kertoi silti menevänsä kaikkiin kilpailuihin aina mukaan. Vahtimaan urheilukassia, tapaamaan ystäviä ja juomaan kahvia - ja syömään lättyjä, lisäsi pappa hymyillen. Mamma sanoi olevansa itse kaikista paras yleisö. Hän nimittäin kannattaa silloinkin, kun menee huonosti. Muut kuulema vaan silloin, kun menee hyvin.

I met the elderly neighbors downstairs. As usual we chatted for some time. The grandpa is rather sporty for his age. He has even won some national championships in his age-group. He trains hard couple of times a week and travels to the competitions regularly. The grandma has bad legs, so she can't do much by herself. Today she told me that she always goes to see all the competitions in which he participates. She said she looks after his sportbag, meets friends and drinks coffee. And eats pancakes, the grandpa added with a smile on his face. The grandma told confidently that she is his best audience. She supports him even when it is going badly. The others, she said, support him only when it goes well.
